.random.!
so yes i've been living under a rock for the past few months. i've been hearing from everyone around me how good of a movie juno is. i've been wanting to see it ever since it came out, but i never seem to have anyone to watch it with *ahem, a*
today oscar nominations came out. juno is nominated for 4 oscars! 'wow, now i really want to see this movie!', i think to myself.
letterman is on tv, i'm winding down to sleep. letterman announces that diablo cody will be on the show. 'oh! brook will be on again...i wonder if this is a rerun,' i think in my head....then i hear that she's the writer of juno , and that's why she's on letterman tonight, because she's nominated for best original screenplay. doh! where the fuck have i been???!
fyi: brook (aka: diablo cody) and i were friends in high school, took the same français class for like 4 years, and skipped and sang down the champs elysées during our junior year; we were not only french club buds, we were friends from back in the hood: lemont. i am so excited for her and wish her the best.
brook: if you somehow google this,
CONGRATULATIONS, BROOK!
i'll be watching for you on feb 24th, wishing you luck!
and even though i haven't even seen the movie yet, i'm totally going to be pimping this movie out to everyone i know. so go see it!

.london.
...ok, i'm going to preface this by saying, i'm not too impressed with my pics from this trip. the results are kind of lackluster to me, but i think it's because i was expecting so much more, and i was in a bit of a rush both days i brought my loverly camera out of the hotel room.
in front of buckingham palace:
archie in green park, across from buckingham palace. i think my shutter speed was too slow on this one...it's much too bright in the background, and around the edges of archie's face:
archie in front of his co-worker's favorite (and pricy) store. davidof
those cute little telephone booths:
my favorite eating stop!
fly birdies, fly! i'm happy with this picture, since i was able to guess the shutter speed which would freeze the birds' wings. shot at 1/1600 and f3.2:
i played around with my camera settings and punched up the saturation a few settings:
archie and the london eye. i like this one because i was able to capture the different blue and grey clouds in the background. shot at 1/5000 f3.2:
here's where you can really tell i was messing around with the camera settings. the grass was *not* that green there.
i think i was a bit too angled here:
i like the blue in the background:
the eye. again, i like how you can see the contrast between the clouds and the blue sky:
tower of london:
london bridge. we took a boat tour and because i couldn't use my feet to move as much, i couldn't get a great shot of the whole thing:
and a funny one...a husband carrying his wife's gucci purse across london bridge. ha!

.yes.it's.been.a.while.
on my time off, we got a new DSLR, started playing mahjong regularly with g&t, celebrated christmas and new years with lots of friends and families, enjoyed gus more and more now that he's moving out of the puppy stage, and marveled at how big gregorio is getting as the months go on. there may be new developments as this next month goes on, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
for now, enjoy the pics on our new canon 40d. all pics are shot with the 50mm 1.4 prime lens.
he looks so washed out here, but still so cute. :D :
he hates me now that we have this camera:
in our christmas present for abby:
on christmas day:
on his new bed:
okok, i have taken pics of things other than gus....
my nephew:
archie opening my christmas gift:
my favorite dish at christmas. rumaki!
i'm going to try to upload a pic a day, and hopefully end up with a 365 day project.
the goal? to see if/when i improve the photog skills. woot woot!
i'll be in london later this week, and hope to come back with some great shots.
